Arthur Fleischmann Foundation
After the death of Arthur Fleischmann in March 1990, a group of friends and colleagues began to
meet to discuss ways of promoting the life and work of the artist, and bringing an awareness of
the work to a wider public. This informal body became known as the Arthur Fleischmann Circle and
used the image shown here taken from a sketchbook of the artist as its logo.
The Arthur Fleischmann Circle was responsible for assisting the Mestske Muzeum (City Museum), Bratislava, in the organisation of the exhibition entitled "A Centennial Celebration" that showed in Bratislava and Vienna over the winter of 1996-97.
Following the success of this exhibition, it was decided to formalise the Circle and the Arthur Fleischmann Foundation (AFF) Limited was formed and registered at Companies House, London in January 2001 (Registration Number 4146395). An application to the Charity Commission was made in the summer of 2001 and charitable status was granted in August 2001 (Registration 1088271).
The Charity's objectives are to advance the education of the public in the art of sculpture and the work of the sculptor Arthur Fleischmann.
This web site is part of the fulfillment of these objectives.
The most important project of the AFF is in assisting the Mestske Muzeum and the City of Bratislava in the management of a permanent museum celebrating the artist. This permanent museum was opened in November 2003 in the house on Biela Ulice where Arthur Fleischmann grew up.
